ORTHOPAEDIC TREATMENT OF THE KNEE AND HIP
CHANGES IN ORTHOPAEDICS
If you have been in our office in recent years, you may have noticed a transition that is occurring in orthopaedics. Robotic technology is allowing surgeons and patients to personalize their joint replacements for faster recoveries, less pain and better outcomes. Dr James Weir was an industry leader when he introduced robotic orthopaedics into the Great Lake Bay Region in the fall of 2014. Dr Jared Weir dedicates his full time practice to robotic joint replacements.
ROBOTIC ASSISTED SURGERY
It all begins with a CT scan of your knee joint. A 3D virtual model of your unique anatomy. This virtual model is loaded into the software system to create a personalized preoperative plan.
In the operating room, we use the robotic system to assist in performing your surgery based on your plan.
When we prepare the bone for the implant, we guide the robotic arm within the predefined area of your plan. The system allows us to make adjustments as needed during the surgery. This helps provide more accurate placement and alignment of your implant.
After surgery, we will set goals to help you get back on your feet through treatment and therapy.
THE INSTITUTE FOR ROBOTIC ORTHOPEDICS AT TOWNE CENTER
In a regional effort to continue to provide world class care, Drs. James and Jared Weir founded the Institute for Robotic Orthopedics. Although the Institute performs research and education, the most visible pursuit is the surgery center where the best practices in robotic orthopedics are put to use for our patients. Your preoperative CT scan, your surgery and your recovery at the Institute are all tailored to provide the best results in our partnership with you. We will continue the relationships that have allowed us to successfully treat our orthopedic patients for thirty years and are excited by the announcement of the Institute for Robotic Orthopedics as the next addition of robotic orthopedic excellence.
